1. Introduction

Institution of Population and Development Studies (IPDS) has been officially and legally registered with the Government of Nepal in 2009. IPDS is currently located in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur district of Nepal. It is authorized to open its offices at both national and international levels. Its main focus is on multi-disciplinary research and consultancy services related with population and development issues.

 

2. Objectives

IPDS has following objectives:

  • To conduct quality research on socio-economic and demographic issues in coordination with national and international organization;
  • To engage in quality teaching and research in the areas of migration, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, urbanization, environment, climate change, nuptiality, child labour, gender equity and equality, poverty, birth, death and social justice, conflict resolution, and other areas related with interrelationships between population and development; and
  • To provide knowledge in conducting quality research in order to enhance skill by conducting training/workshops and seminars to students, teachers and to personnel of government, non-government and private organization.

 

3. Major work areas

Internal and international migration, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, urbanization, environment, climate change, child labour, gender equity and equality, poverty, social exclusion/inclusion, fertility, mortality and other areas related with interrelationships between population and development.
